Learn the art of linocut and letterpress as you make a set of postcards in this hands-on 3-hour workshop at Print St. Pete Community Letterpress on Saturday, April 20th (1-4pm) with instructors Kaitlin Crockett of Print St. Pete and Oma Darlin’ Press, and Catherine Hayslip of Nancy Delores & Co. First, students will learn how to hand-carve a design using a linoleum block and carving tools, as well as how to hand-ink and print using several methods that don’t require a press. Concerned about a lack of drawing skill? No worries! We’ll have images you can trace and transfer. Next, students will get a friendly introduction to letterpress printing, including a brief history of this old school craft, and a typesetting demo. Attendees will then get to print text on their postcards using the antique printing presses. Each student will leave with a dozen (12) postcards they printed. $55 - all supplies included. Limited seats. Pre-registration and payment are required to reserve your seat.
*This workshop requires no prior experience, and is great for beginners or those looking to learn a variety of printmaking methods.
